In The City has teamed up with brand new Manchester based music network The Northern Song Collective to give four lucky songwriters the chance to write a charity single that will be released in aid of the Men Matter appeal.
The release of the single will be coordinated with Manchester based radio station, Rock Radio, and will feature the talents of UK rock legends, The Little Angels, Thunder and Gun.
Every entrant who applied to play for In The City via the festival’s site will be considered for this competition that will take place on Thursday 14th October as part of The In The City Hive.
Sixteen winning songwriters will be chosen by The Northern Song Collective and In The City to take part in this very special event that will see groups of writers set the task of creating a new song together in just one day. To help them in their challenge, the writers will be guided by a hand picked selection of professional songwriters from The Northern Song Collective and mentored by legendary musicians and songwriters including Clint Boon (Xfm), Mike Sweeny (Rock Radio), Tony Kirkham (The Stereophonics) and Lea Mullen (Happy Mondays, George Michael).
After In The City comes to a close you will be able to vote for your favourite track via http://www.facebook.com/nscmusic and http://www.rockradio.co.uk/ the winner of which will go on to record their song and have it released via one of the top independent UK publishers, Hornall Brothers.
