KEYNOTE: Mike Pickering and Paul Morley for keynote talk

Manchester dance music legend and MD of the newly re-launched Deconstruction Records, Mike Pickering, is to appear at In The City 2010 in conversation with the inimitable Paul Morley. In what will doubtless be a highlight of this year’s conference, Mike will be discussing his history from the halcyon days of The Hacienda and Factory Records, through his time as part of Quango Quango and M People to his current position at the head of the freshly relaunched Deconstruction Records
Paul Morley’s history in music shares much of the same backstory as Mike’s, with his younger days against the backdrop of a vibrant Manchester providing the ideal introduction to the workings of the industry. A writer for the NME during its most influential years, Paul is now widely consider an authority on Manchester’s glory years and the ensuing London boom, with his co-partnership with Trevor Horn at the head of ZTT Records defining a period of influential creativity.
